2023 Summer Session Descriptions
One Week Sessions:
Note: Sessions are not themed but we will celebrate Christmas in July during Session C.
Traditional Track
Pick your own activities, choose your own clubs, plan your own day. Pick your favorite activities to hone your skills, or challenge yourself to try something different and discover talents you did not know you had. Competitions, recreational activities, brainy challenges, completely chill clubs, it’s up to you! Hang out with old friends or make new friends to last a lifetime. The best part? A community where everyone is accepted, and caring staff who are trained to listen is always there for you. Sessions are not themed but we will celebrate Christmas in July during Session C. This session also includes special evening programs, more campfires and later curfew. Explorers have the opportunity to pursue more than one award club in a session, and have the freedom to switch clubs. This is a two-week session with a stay-over weekend. Campers will go to town during the stay over weekend for a laundry run, Mass and supper out. The cost of the weekend activities is covered in your fee. There will be an optional “staff for a day” shadowing opportunity for those who are interested. While excellent preparation for our CIT program, this session is intended to be purely for enjoyment and includes no staff training components.
CIT (Counselor in Training)
7/2/2023 10:00 AM - 7/13/2023 (ENDS THURSDAY 7/13, 3:00 PM)
Age 17 OR age 16 with 2 years as a CT camper. $199
This is intended for young folks who want to begin working at Camp Turner. Participants must be 16 years of age before the summer begins, have working papers and complete a staff application. This internship has several components, including outdoor education, leadership training, service, journaling, spiritual reflection, team building, photography, and staff training. Participants will spend week one in staff training with regular camp staff. Week two is invested in shadowing staff and learning from the experience. CITs (like all staff) will be involved in dishwashing, cleaning bathrooms and other maintenance tasks, taking pictures, assisting Counselors in activities and cabin duties. The spiritual components focus on discovering the presence of God in all things, and discovering your own spiritual gifts. While not guaranteed, we hope successful completion of this program will result in paid employment for the rest of the summer as a paid intern. Previous experience as a camper, especially participation in the Explorer program is very helpful. Registrants should possess working papers and identification to satisfy the US-I9 form.
