Summer Sessions

2022 Summer Session Descriptions

2 two-week Sessions for Older Campers:

CIT / Interns
Ages 16+
July 3-15, $299

This is intended for young folks who want to begin working at Camp Turner.  Participants must be 16 years of age before the summer begins, have working papers and complete a staff application. This internship has several components, including outdoor education, leadership training, service, journaling, spiritual reflection, team building, photography, and staff training.  Participants will spend week one in staff training with regular camp staff.  Week two is invested in shadowing staff and learning from the experience.  CITs (like all staff) will be involved in dishwashing, cleaning bathrooms and other maintenance tasks, taking pictures, assisting Counselors in activities and cabin duties.  The spiritual components focus on discovering the presence of God in all things, and discovering your own spiritual gifts.  While not guaranteed, we hope successful completion of this program will result in paid employment for the rest of the summer as a paid intern.  Previous experience as a camper, especially participation in the Explorer program is very helpful.  Registrants should possess working papers and identification to satisfy the US-I9 form.

Explorers
Ages 13-15
July 10 - 22, $999

During sessions A & B

This is a 13 day high adventure session including:

              3 Day Backpacking Trip

Training in outdoor living skills and low impact camping

Trip to Sky High Adventure Park (additional fee)

This session also includes special evening programs, more campfires and later curfew.  Explorers have the opportunity to pursue more than one award club in a session, and have the freedom to switch clubs. This is a two-week session with a stay-over weekend.  Campers will go to town during the stay over weekend for a laundry run, Mass and supper out. The cost of the weekend activities is covered in your fee.  There will be an optional “staff for a day” shadowing opportunity for those who are interested. While excellent preparation for our CIT program, this session is intended to be purely for enjoyment and includes no staff training components.

One Week Sessions:

Pathfinder Track
Ages 13 – 15      $579

During sessions C, D, E.

These are one week sessions for older campers.  Pathfinders partake of the session themes that are offered each week in the regular sessions, sometimes helping to implement them.  Participants enjoy more freedom (ability to change activities in the middle of a period), later wake up and bedtimes, more campfires and some special evening activities separate from the younger campers. Optional weekly field trip available for additional fee.

13 year old campers may choose either the Pathfinder or Traditional Tracks.

Traditional Track
Ages 8-14      Session A & B      $549

Ages 8-13      Session C, D, & E      $549

Sessions designed for Younger or First Time Campers:

Session F:  Three Nights - August 14, 2 pm through August 17, 12 noon. (Ages 7-13) $399.
Discovery Week

A great introduction to everything Camp Turner has to offer!  Unlike our other sessions, this week is “group centered”, meaning campers live and travel with their cabin mates all day, visiting our 9 main activity areas of camp (see below).   There are a couple of “free choice” times toward the end of the session so campers can revisit their favorites or other special offerings.

WinterCamp!
Ages 7-15
Two Nights! December 28, 10 am through Dec. 30, 6 pm.  $229.

Registration for WinterCamp will open in the autumn.
This mini session is a lot like summer camp, but with snow and lots of hot cocoa!  This is a great chance for campers to reconnect with friends from the summer, as well as for new campers to try out CT for just two nights.  We also offer an optional round-trip bus, from the Buffalo area, for your convenience during this session.  The activities are weather dependent.  If it’s warm out many of our summer activities are offered (sorry, no horses).  If it snows lots of cool winter activities are available.  Either way, we are prepared to have tons of fun the whole time.
